Review Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Draft — to be reviewed by a lawyer. Items in [brackets] are placeholders to fill in.
Reviews on JunkScout come from real customers about real jobs. This policy explains who can review a hauler, what is allowed, and how we handle reviews.
1. Who can review
- Only customers who hired a hauler through JunkScout can review that hauler. No anonymous reviews and no reviews from outside the Platform.
- The job must be confirmed: after the job date we ask the customer whether the job happened. Only confirmed jobs can be reviewed, and every review shows a “Verified Job” badge.
- The customer gets a one-time secure link, valid for 60 days and tied to that customer, job and hauler.
- One review per job. Customers can edit their review once within 30 days of posting it.
2. What's not allowed
- Profanity, insults, hate speech or discriminatory language
- Threats or harassment
- Personal information (phone numbers, addresses, emails, licence plates)
- Spam, advertising or links
- Off-topic content unrelated to the job
- Conflicts of interest: reviewing your own business, a relative's, an employer's or a competitor's
3. Moderation
- Every review is screened automatically (including by AI) for the issues above, and checked for fraud: several reviews from the same device or IP address, links between the customer and the hauler, or a sudden burst of 5-star reviews.
- Clean reviews publish immediately. Flagged reviews are held and checked by a person at JunkScout, who makes the final decision.
- Reviews are never removed for being negative, only for breaking this policy.
4. Hauler replies and flags
- The hauler can post one public reply to each review, which they can edit.
- They can't edit or delete a review. They can flag it for us to check, with a reason; the review stays up while we check.
5. No incentives
Haulers may not offer discounts, gifts, refunds or any other incentive for a review, or ask only happy customers to review. A confirmed violation results in suspension. Featured or paid haulers get no advantage in reviews.
6. How reviews are shown
- The average rating and review count appear once a hauler has 3 reviews. Before that, their profile says “New on JunkScout”.
- A hauler's Google rating, when available, is shown separately and clearly labelled “Google rating”. It is never mixed into the JunkScout rating.
- The final price you paid, if you share it, is private and never shown.
7. Reporting a review
Think a review breaks this policy? Email saintjohnjunk@gmail.com or use “Report a problem” on the hauler's profile. See also our Terms of Service.
